MAYA’S House

MAYA’S House provides part time day care for families in homelessness. The primary goal serves to provide support to homeless families in the areas of child care, parenting, literacy, public health, mental health and a network for community referrals.  Homeless parents are able to leave their children up to 10 hours a week under supervision of MAYA’S House staff while they look for a job, attempt to find housing, acquire training or take care of other matters.    It’s also a place where families get skills and motivation to become independent. They can get help or referrals on health care, housing, job training and other advocacy needs. (Hours: 7:00 A.M.—12:00 Noon)

The community room is designed with the social and emotional needs of homeless children in mind.  The caring staff and volunteers welcome children in an inviting atmosphere that is child friendly and emphasizes the community the children live in.

Key collaborations include the Jr. League of Rockford,  Rockford Public School    District #205, The Literacy Council, Youth Service Network and Crusader Clinic.
